"What can WE do to keep the air in our classroom clean?"

Materials Needed

  • Large poster board or chart paper
  • Markers, crayons, colored pencils
  • Stickers (optional)
  • Magazines for cutting pictures (optional)
  • Glue sticks

Circle Time: Review What We Learned (8 min)

Teacher Says:

"We have learned so many things about keeping air clean! Let us remember them all. What are some ways to make air cleaner?"

Write Their Answers on the Board:

  • Use filters (like air purifiers)
  • Open windows for fresh air
  • Wash our hands
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Keep things clean and dust-free
  • Stay home when we are sick

Activity: Create Our Clean Air Poster (15 min)

Steps:

  1. Title: Write "Our Clean Air Plan" at the top of the poster
  2. Divide into sections: Create areas for each clean air action
  3. Draw together: Students help draw pictures of each action
  4. Add labels: Write simple words next to pictures
  5. Sign it: Everyone signs their name or adds a handprint

Poster Sections:

Fresh Air
Draw: Open window with air flowing in
Clean Hands
Draw: Hands with soap bubbles
Filters Help
Draw: Air purifier or filter
Cover Coughs
Draw: Person coughing into elbow

Clean Air Promise (5 min)

Say Together:

"I promise to help keep our air clean!
I will wash my hands.
I will cover my coughs.
I will help open windows when we can.
Together we breathe clean air!"

Have students repeat after you and do motions!

Wrap-Up: Hang the Poster (2 min)

Celebrate!

Hang the poster where everyone can see it. This is your classroom's Clean Air Plan! Point to it when someone remembers to wash hands or when you open the windows. Celebrate being clean air helpers!

Key Takeaway

We all have a part to play in keeping air clean! When everyone does their part - washing hands, covering coughs, letting in fresh air - we all breathe cleaner air and stay healthier together!

Assessment Checklist

Students can:

  • Name at least 2 ways to keep air clean
  • Explain how filters work (they catch tiny things)
  • Show proper handwashing technique
  • Contribute to the class clean air poster
  • Participate in the clean air promise

Teacher Tips
